Сохранение in situ наиболее актуально для Himantoglossum comperianum, Limodorum abortivum, Orchis punctulata и Colchicum triphyllum, поскольку они нигде не культивируются.

CONSERVATION VALUE OF THE VASCULAR PLANT FLORA OF THE STATE NATURE SANCTUARY «KARANSKY» (SEVASTOPOL)
Abstract. The first comprehensive data on the vascular plant species richness within the territory of the State Nature Sanctuary «Karansky» are presented. These data serve as the basis for determining the Sanctuary’s ecological and conservation significance. The Nature Sanctuary, as the largest protected area on the Heracleisky Peninsula, plays a crucial role in preserving the region’s phytodiversity, accounting for more than half of the total flora – 64,5 %. A total of 544 vascular plant species, subspecies, varieties, and hybrids have been identified, belonging to 294 genera, 70 families, 32 orders, and 4 subclasses. The taxonomic spectrum of the Mediterranean flora is characterized by the dominance of several families: Poaceae (66 species, 12,1 %), Asteraceae (65 species, 11,97 %), and Fabaceae (45 species, 8,3 %). This reflects the location of its territory within the Mediterranean Floristic Region. The number of species associated with phytocenoses increases as we move from closed to open habitats, and 51,1 % of the flora is found in Festuco–Brometea communities. The State Nature Sanctuary «Karansky» plays a significant role in preserving rare and vulnerable species, which account for 10,7 % of its flora. Fifty-eight species are listed in the Red Book of Sevastopol (2018), of which 22 are also included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation (2024), i. e., 33 % of the regional list and 4 % of the federal list. The distribution of most of these protected species in Russia is limited to the Crimean Peninsula and the Caucasus. Among the Crimean endemic species, four are also protected at the regional level: Bellevalia lypskyi, Scabiosa praemontana, Trinia biebersteinii, and T. crithmifolia. Only for Asphodeline taurica is it recommended to develop special conservation measures (priority II). In situ conservation is most relevant for Himantoglossum comperianum, Limodorum abortivum, Orchis punctulata, and Colchicum triphyllum, as they are not cultivated anywhere. In the network of protected areas of Sevastopol, the State Nature Sanctuary «Karansky» is the only facility where Colchicum triphyllum is protected, and one of two and three where the endemics B. lypskyi and T. biebersteinii are protected, respectively. Ten species are classified with a high conservation category in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List: specifically, eight species are categorized as Near Threatened (NT), one as Vulnerable (VU), and one as Endangered (EN). The Nature Sanctuary contributes significantly, but not exclusively, to conservation efforts in the Crimean Peninsula and Russia by safeguarding only a portion of the populations of protected and rare species. Additionally, 376 species have utilitarian value and belong to 12 groups of useful plants. The most prominent groups include ornamental plants (178 species), medicinal plants (129 species), and fodder plants (120 species).
Keywords: phytodiversity, Red Data Book, IUCN Red List, useful plants, protected areas, Crimea.
