Ethics Code of scientific publications

To ensure compliance with the ethics of scientific publications, the journal «Diversity of plant world» is guided by the «Ethics Code of scientific publications» (hereinafter – the Code), which was developed by the Committee on the Ethics of Scientific Publications and is available at the following link: https://www.elsevier.com/about/our-business/policies/publishing-ethics

Its main goals are adherence to the principles of ethics of relationships between participants in the scientific and publishing community. The Code unites and discloses the general principles and rules that the participants in the process of scientific publications should be guided in their relationships: authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, distributors and readers. The ethics of scientific publications is a system of norms of professional behavior in the relationship between authors, reviewers, editors, publishers and readers in the process of creating, disseminating and using scientific publications.

Professional ethical guidelines for Editorial Board and Publisher

– The Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world» relies on authenticity of ascribed facts and scientific significance of data when making a decision about any publication.

– The Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world» estimates intellectual content of a manuscript regardless race, gender, sexual identity, religious commitments, citizenship, social background or political preferences of authors.

– Unpublished facts obtained from the author’s data which were submitted to consideration should not be used for private purposes or conveyed to a third party without a written consent of the author. The information or ideas obtained in the process of editorship and related to some possible benefits are to be held confidential and not be used for self-profit.

– The Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world» should not accept the publication of facts if there is some reasonable evidence of plagiarism.

– The Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world» jointly with the publisher should not ignore any complaints concerning the reviewed copies or already published data. They must as well take appropriate measures to restore violated rights in case of a dispute.

Ethical guidelines for reviewer

– The author’s manuscript submitted for reviewing has to be kept confidential. It is forbidden to pass it to a third party for any familiarization or discussion without authority from the Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world».

– The reviewer has to give an objective and reasoned estimation of scientific results. Derogatory personal comments about the author are unacceptable.

– Unpublished data from the author’s manuscripts which were submitted to consideration should not be used by the reviewer for private purposes.

– The reviewer, without appropriate subject expertise or ability to be objective, for example in case of conflict interests with an author or organization, must inform the Editorial Board of the journal «Diversity of plant world» about it and request to be excluded from the reviewing process of the manuscript.

Declaration on privacy

Any information about authors (family name, name, patronymic, position, academic degree, academic title, ORCID of the author, author’s organization, organization address, e-mail address, phone number for readers to communicate with authors), given by them to be published in the journal, becomes accessible for anybody; authors grant their written consent to it by signing relevant cover documents submitted together with a manuscript and by signing a form containing complete information about authors required for Russian editions indexing in reference database of the Russian Scientific Citation Index. Publication of the above-mentioned data is accomplished allowing for authors’ interests as it makes for complete and correct account of publications and their citation by relevant reference organizations and for providing possible contacts between authors and scientific society as a whole.

Private information which is given to the journal by authors apart from the above-mentioned obligatory data, including additional e-mail addresses and phone numbers, will be used only for contacting authors in the process of preparing a paper for publication. The Editorial board undertakes not to give this private information to any third parties which can use it for pursuing any other goals.

Guidelines for the authors of scientific publications

– The authors of scientific papers have to provide the authentic results of their research. Intentionally wrong or fabricated data are unacceptable.

– The authors have to guarantee that the results of the research in the submitted manuscript have totally original authorship. Borrowed parts or statements should be referenced accordingly stating their author and authentic source. The materials with excessive borrowings and plagiarism in any form including unacknowledged quotations, rephrasing or appropriation of rights on results of other researchers are unethical and unacceptable.

– It is necessary to acknowledge the contribution of all people involved in the process of research. In particular, references to any publications that have been influential during the research should be present in the paper.

– The authors should not to submit a manuscript which was already put forward to another journal and is under consideration as well as a paper which has already been published in another scientific journal.

– All people who have made an important contribution to the research have to be designated as the co-authors of a paper. It is improper to mention people who did not take part in the scientific research among the coauthors.

– When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in a published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the Editor of the journal «Diversity of plant world» and cooperate with Publisher to retract or correct the paper. If the Editor or the Publisher learn from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper.

Article processing

All submitted manuscripts undergo one-sided anonymous (blind) peer review by specialists in this field and plagiarism testing (incorrect borrowing).
Peer review is organized by the Editorial board of the journal. Reviews are kept for 5 years.
Articles received by the editorial staff are reviewed. The Editorial board may reject materials that do not correspond to the subject of the journal, do not correspond to the level of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, works designed without observing the rules for the authors of the journal, or return them for revision. The Editorial board may recommend the authors scientific, stylistic, technical editing of manuscripts. Responsibility for the actual data provided by the authors of the materials lies with the authors. Russian and English texts of articles undergo proofreading. The final proofreading of the articles is sent to the authors for approval.
The Editorial board of the journal sends the authors of the materials submitted for publication copies of the reviews if there are comments or a motivated refusal to publish upon receipt of a request.
The Editorial board of the journal decides to publish the article on the basis of the review.
Copies of reviews are sent to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation upon receipt of the corresponding request to the editorial office of the publication.

Article retraction

Revocation of text from the publication (retraction) is a mechanism of correcting the published information and alerts readers that the publication contains serious deficiencies or erroneous data that cannot be trusted. The unreliability of the data may be the result of bona fide error or deliberate violations.

Retraction is also used to alert readers about the cases of duplicate publications (when authors present the same data in several publications), plagiarism and concealment of conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of the data or recommendations about their use.

Grounds for revocation of the article is the violation of the ethical principles of the journal. Among the grounds for revocation of the article include:
• the presence of illegal borrowing (plagiarism) in a large volume;
• duplicate articles in multiple periodicals;
• detection in the work of fraud or fabrication (e.g., manipulation of experimental data);
• detection in the work of serious mistakes (e.g., incorrect interpretation of results), which casts doubt on its scientific value;
• not correct the composition of the authors (no author; includes individuals who do not meet the criteria of authorship);
• hidden conflict of interest;
• reproduction of articles without the author’s consent;
• other violations of ethical principles of the journal.

The reason for the retraction of article are:
• the author’s appeal on the revocation of the article;
• the decide of the chief editor of the journal.

The decision to retraction the article accepted by the editorial office at the proposal of the chief editor of the journal that contains information about the presence of the reason for the retraction article. The decision to retraction the article takes into account the response of the author/co-authors, justifying his position on article withdrawal (upon receipt of the answer).
If the author/co-authors find it necessary to withdraw the article, they appeal to the editor, motivated explaining the reason for its decision. The editorial office answer the authors and if there are grounds for retraction, she is does retraction the text of the article.

If the editorial office decides to revoke the text of the article on the basis of its examination or received information, this is informed to the author/co-authors and requested their reasoned opinion about the validity of submission to the editor-in-chief on the issue of revocation of article. The reasoned opinion is requested from each co-author separately. If the author/co-authors ignores the request of the publisher, the editorial office has the right to publish opinion without considering the opinion of the author. In the case of the receipt of the appeal on the grounds of retraction the article, the editorial office informs the author about the timing of its consideration. The maximum term of consideration of the appeal may not exceed one month. Not be considered a statement if it is not specified surname, name, patronymic of the author or contact details, contain unreadable text or abusive language.

For the examination of the article and related materials the chief editor forms an expert Commission consisting of a Chairman (the chief editor or Deputy chief editor of the journal) and members of the Commission (not less than 2 members of the editorial Board of the journal).

The decision to retraction of the article in the Protocol of the meeting of the editorial office of the journal. Having made the decision to withdraw the article, the editorial office indicates the cause of retraction (in the case of plagiarism detection with reference to the sources of borrowing) and the date of the retraction. Article and description articles remain on the website of the journal in the appropriate issue of the journal, but the electronic version of the text is the inscription «ОТКЛОНЕНА/RETRACTED» and the date of retraction, the same label is applied in the article and in the table of contents of the issue.

The chief editor of the journal sends in the databases of scientific information, which include the magazine, the Protocol of the meeting of the editorial office of the journal. The Protocol indicates the date of the meeting, membership meeting, the results of the examination and the reasoned decision.

The Protocol of the meeting of the editorial office of the journal also is sent to the author (the author to the Commissioner in the case of collective authorship) of the article and the author of treatment.

The editorial office along with the decision to withdraw the article has the right to take a decision to impose a ban on the acceptance for publication of articles by the author/coauthors for a certain period.
